She is still just rough enough that her story reads as totally from the heart. I enjoyed the pace and who couldn't adore Beck and Jeremy? There was a good group of secondary characters, a lot of the vulnerable innocence found in college kids. There was a good amount of angst but I was so caught up in the story that it did not bother me. The story was over before I new it but it ended on such a high note that a sequel might only hurt it. ( ) Jeremy is a college freshman ready to put his past behind him and make full use of a fresh start. Beck is a junior for whom wrestling has become everything and he's focused on everywhere it can take him. Their paths cross on the wrestling team and quickly realize there's more to each other--and a specific more they share. But it's not easy for two athletes to share what they do, especially with Beck's goals and Jeremy's past. It took me a bit to get into this one. When I read it, I just happened to be on a string of college stories, so something really had to stand out to truly pull in my attention. But once this grabbed me, I couldn't put it down. There's an ease to the storytelling and both a realistic and refreshing tone to the story that it really resonated in the end. Maris Black is a new author for me, but I fully anticipate finishing this series and keeping an eye out for future titles as well... 4.25 Stars What a book and yes I'm still in a bit of shock. While I read the blurb and Sheziss's review I expected just hot mindless fluff…I expected a fun filled book. So yeah this one was a bit like… We get the hotness, we get the fun...but this one is just so much more and honestly I am still a little overwhelmed with emotion with this one. Now bear with me…as yes…I relate this book to my favorite TV show "The Walking Dead". *grins* This book is the epitome of "don't judge a book by its cover"...it's more than two wrestlers having hot sex in a locker room wearing pink jock straps (yes there's that) and "The Walking Dead" is more than a show about zombies. There’s emotion… There are tears… There’s heartache… and yes there’s the need to just kick a motherfuckin asshole where it hurts… These characters grabbed me from the start. I was drawn into their relationship so fiercely that it made what happened at 76% just unreal. I was left in a daze… Thanks to my girl Momo for being there for me...I could not have made it without you. I absolutely loved these characters…our MCs and their friends…what a beautiful ride this was. If you want to see hot men pics or jock straps...see Sheezis' review or Momo's review. Now...on to Book 2...Dan's story. :)" 4.5 stars. I loved this book, but I feel like I'm missing things. Why would the cops just let Beck beat on Coach Bradley even if he punched Beck first, and with Beck and Jeremy being injured, were they still wrestling?! Beck thought he had cracked ribs, but there was no mention of him not being able to wrestle. Nothing about all the time he spent in the hospital with Jeremy, the wrestling team clearly didn't care that he was with Jeremy, but what about missed matches?! And what happened with Beck's scholarship? I will be reading the next book. I loved Dan in this one, and I'm looking forward to him getting a man too! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)SSU Boys (1)
On his first day of college, all Jeremy Miller can think about is getting away from his hellish home life, making the wrestling team, and finally getting a real boyfriend. He's sick to death of being used by closeted football players who are too afraid to admit they like guys. What he doesn't count on is losing his mind over the gorgeous, golden-eyed wrestling captain who needs to keep their attraction a secret at all costs. After earning a full-ride wrestling scholarship and getting accepted into an elite sports medicine program, Beck thinks he's got it made. Now he's a favorite for the national championship in his weight class. Life has never been sweeter or more predictable. Never mind that he's gay and wishing he didn't have to hide it. There will be plenty of time for a social life after graduation. Until then he doesn't need anything to get in the way of his big plans, and that includes the adorable little wrestler who's got him all tied up in knots. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
