It's got great fleshed (or unfleshed-- in the case of Bob)-out characters, as well as staying true to the songs. The art is amazing, the details are great, the backstory are well detailed or alluded to... I love how Grek Pak and JoCo got so many of Jonathan's songs into the package. Best Kickstarter ever. Hope it picks up and takes off everywhere. ... If you have the chance, definitely get yourself a copy. ( ) Fun. Jonathan Coulton is a singer/songwriter who writes weird neat songs; Pak commented last year (on Twitter) that you could write a pretty good superhero adventure out of his songs. JC said do it, so he did. I supported it on Kickstarter, and just got the full book today (I'd read part of it before, digitally, but it's not all out there yet). Charles is a monkey who learned to code, and is surviving as a programmer - with all the problems of computer geeks everywhere, plus some. When the giant robots show up, his life takes a sharp left turn - and keeps on zigging and zagging all over the place. Love, despair, the punkey (a cross between a pony and several monkeys...), zombies, the curler (do you know the sport?) saves the day...The story is pretty thin - well, there's a lot of significant glances and the like, but the action is thin. The real story requires knowing all of JC's songs, and I don't know all of them well enough to catch all the references (willing to spend the time to figure them out, though! Good songs, in and of themselves). I like Charles; Matilde strikes me as just a bit naive. Actually, most of them strike me as rather naive (Charles included). Fun though. I'd love to see more - see where Charles goes from here. Don't know if it will ever happen, but it would be neat. Definitely worth my Kickstarter donation. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
A put-upon coding monkey teams up with a seething, lovelorn super-villain to fight robots, office worker zombies, and maybe even each other as they struggle to impress the amazing women for whom they fruitlessly long. Based on the songs of internet superstar musician Jonathan Coulton. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
