This is a book of short stories edited by Martin Edwards. The theme of the 19 sort stories contained in this volume is “The Perfect Crime” is there such a thing – could you come up with a perfect crime?
Well some of these stories have characters who do – other characters think they do – but slip up in a way they never ever could think of.
The outstanding short stories for me were ‘Choose your poison’ by Tony Wilmot, ‘Where do you find your ideas?’ by Martin Edwards and ‘The Secret’ by Eileen Dewhurst.
There really is something for everyone in this collection – but these three were the only standouts – the rest were average to mediocre – and a couple I couldn’t finish as they just didn’t grab me. ( )
