It's a story of a journey of one man's dream. Right from the beginning the reader is taken by the hand and taken along with Steve Melia, a brother, a son, a business man, and a comedian.
He contemplated if and when he should make his dream come true. Even though there were some circumstances that could have changed his mind, Steve realized that if he was to make it happen, it had to happen now.
The circumstances would be the deciding factor not to go, never mind the cost of the journey. It was an expensive dream. His dream of attending every New York Yankee game in one season, home and away, all 162 of them.
His plans included to hit many comedy clubs on the way. It was a busy six months for Steve.
Steve spent six months living out of a suitcase, had 33 flights, spent 53 nights in hotels, slept in 23 different people's houses, logged 40,000 miles traveling to 15 cities and many beers.
I feel like I got to know Steve Melia and understand him. I laughed with him, and cried with him. I was embarrassed for him and raced for the plane with him. I felt for him and supported him.
This book tells of baseball, but it mostly tells of a man who is taking his life to new heights and new places. A man who decided to go after what he wants, encouraging us all to do the same. ( )
