In this exhilarating adventure Jim Curious dives into the ocean by himself to explore the marine creatures and seascapes, an underwater lost city and a sunken ship. Then he goes to the bottom of the Earth where he finds a door... Love graphic illustrations style and wonderful overlapping 3 D effects when one can see layer after layer. Read this book with my boys and both were amazed as myself. Technology on the printed page at its best! This book was fantastically amazing! There were so many times I had to feel the page because it seemed like there was just a layer of plastic over part of the page, and that underneath that section was a deep space full of underwater happenings. I always expect 3D to be lackluster, I suppose because it always was in my childhood, but just as the movies have begun to master the art and technology of 3D in the last 20 years, so has the printed red and blue form. And Matthias Picard really opened my eyes to how much is possible as I was looking through this book with my son. There are no words, which isn't always a good thing with some other books, but this one goes much farther than most. And it's so much fun to see where the story goes. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"Jim Curious portrays the fantastical story of a young boy and his thrilling trip to the bottom of the sea in an old-fashioned diving suit. But there are no words telling his tale--only intricately illustrated images in exceptional 3-D. On his journey, Jim initially passes the garbage tossed into the waters by land-dwellers, but soon he goes deeper and deeper, immersing himself in the wonders of the waters. He encounters sea creatures large and small, a sunken pirate ship, and even the remnant of what seems to be Atlantis, before coming upon a mysterious force at the bottom that turns everything on its head."--Publisher's description.
