Amusing. Haven't read a choose your adventure in years. (Well, the NPH autobio, but not a regular fiction one). Found 3 solved endings, and many ends. I'll go back through to make sure I get through all the chapters the awkward way, see what other scenes I may have missed. Nice to start off my KU month with something fun, though. ( )

As a kid, I was a huge fan of Choose Your Own Adventure books, so I was excited to come across this CYOA novel for adults. What a phenomenal idea! I enjoyed the nostalgia I felt as I contemplated which path to choose, but after several choices, I became a bit bored. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the storyline that unfolded, but there just wasn't enough character development to make me feel invested in finding out how my adventure would end. Another thing that was off for me was that there is only one choice at the end of some of the chapters, so it's as if the story is forced in a certain direction regardless of previous decisions you've made.

When you get to the end, you have the option to start over. Back when I was a kid, I used to read these types of books over and over just to see what the different outcomes were. Maybe it's because my tastes have changed, but I wasn't compelled to reread this one to achieve a different outcome.

I'm not sure if I'll read any more of these. I suppose I am a bit curious to see what the zombie one is like... ( )
