November 9 by Colleen Hoover Fallon and Ben meet on the night she is set to leave L.A. for New York, there is a mutual attraction. They decide to meet up every November 9th for the next five years. Ben is determined to write a book about their lives. Fallon is an actress that suffered a career change when she was phsyically scarred while in a house fire. Ben is an aspiring writer, with the hopes of penning a great book. Circumstances arise over the years and she begins to doubt his motives. He is falling (hard) for her, while hiding secrets. Yet, they still meet up as promised every year. How will this play out in real life and for a (fiction) book that appears to be more true to life than fiction. The Story moves at a steady with a slow burn. Fallon and Ben are both likable, each having inner turmoil. Secrets will slowly be revealed, in this fantastic supsense filled love story. Colleen Hoover knows how to grab you by the heart and not let go. Overall I found November 9 very enjoyable . This book kept me wanting more! Colleen’s books are usually a hit or miss and this one was a HIT! I adored it. Although towards the end when the whole story started coming together I kept asking myself, “what in the heck.” But I kept reading and I’m glad I did! I loved the main character and she did have some growth throughout the story. I would recommend to a friend. Reviewer’s Note: I Discovered "Take the Quiz: Which Colleen Hoover Book Will You Like Best?" https://www.shereadsromancebooks.com/colleen-hoover-books-in-order/?fbclid=IwAR1... I took the quiz – requesting a stand-alone! The Result: "November 9" by Colleen Hoover. Hours before Fallon is to move from Los Angeles to New York, she is having lunch with her father, Donovan O’Neil, still famous 10 years beyond the end of his television role as Max Epcott. Benton James Kessler is also having lunch at the same restaurant, and as he sits down in the booth next to Fallon whispers, "Just go with it." WoW! I loved it! I loved it from start to finish and all the pages in between! Sometimes I was smiling; sometimes, there were tears in my eyes. At other moments I laughed out loud, and sometimes tears escaped my realization until they dropped on my tablet. The novel is well-written and is so much more than a contemporary romance. I have viewed many posts on social media categorizing the book as a coming-of-age novel, young adult, new adult, or a combination thereof. In this reader’s opinion, I think any of those labels limit the audience, and I’d like the novel to be shared beyond those limitations for all it has to offer. The author’s writing showers the reader with perceptive awareness, particularly of the impact of spoken words and the lingering memories that wither away at self-confidence. Through Fallon’s relationships, there is a discovery of how walls built for self-protection from the impact of emotions to what has been spoken and left unspoken become isolating and steps forward more difficult. I loved Fallon’s determination to move cross-country and draw on her inner strength, making future decisions on her terms. Exploring the relationships in Fallon’s life unmasks the effects of life experiences revealing with clarity the differences in how an individual reacts, the differences in how loved ones and friends respond to how the individual moves forward, the differences in perceptions between those that know of the experiences or a sprinkling of them, how they perceive they would think, react, and move forward, and make judgments accordingly. If we could give each other the benefit of the doubt… "A body is simply a package for the true gifts inside. And you are full of gifts. Selflessness, kindness, compassion. All the things that matter. Youth and beauty fade. Human decency doesn’t."There’s always a special place in your heart for your first. Ha! That’s not what you expected me to say, but it fits in a variety of ways. 😉 So, enjoy whatever interpretation was your 1st impression. I look forward to reading more of Colleen Hoover’s novels. My heartfelt appreciation to Leslie at She Reads Romance Books! never reading another coho book again. SORRY!!!! i’m not the biggest fan of romance books in general so i’m not surprised that i didn’t enjoy this.
I loved the concept of this book but it sadly never drew me in. In fact, i thought it was pretty boring up until the final portion when Fallon found Bens manuscript.
I ABSOLUTELY HATED THE END!!! Maybe i’m just an evil spirited person but i don’t think i would ever forgive someone that set fire to my house causing 4th degree burns all over my body and ruining my entire career.. on top of that…. fallon…. was the one who apologized and the end….?????? ( )
