It is one of the Rivers of America series, and is I think the first book I have read in that series. The book was of interest because it tells of Dr. Peter Fahrney, whose patent medicines were a family staple when I was a child. The book is not a bad book, but there was a lot in the book that didn't interest me very much. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

A classic account of the Wisconsin River's early exploration by French traders and Jesuit priests through the 1940s. Mixing folklore and legend, Derleth tells of the Winnebago, Sauk, and Fox peoples; of lumberjacks, farmers, miners, and preachers; of ordinary folks and famous figures such as the Ringling Brothers, Chief Blackhawk, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Zona Gale.
