This work of non-fiction is a good, comprehensive account of Arkansas history during the years immediately preceding secession, the Civil War and the succeeding years, through Reconstruction. Though at times somewhat dry, that is largely a reflection of the subject matter. By and large, the book is educational and enlightening. As an Arkansas resident, I was familiar with much of the history, though certainly not the details, and parts of the book were absolutely new to me. The period of Reconstruction was particularly fascinating, the facts of which I was completely unfamiliar. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Arkansas history, Civil War history or even history in general. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
