I think the story would have been better if the focus was on the investigation rather than on the romance. Likeable characters and a lot of hot sex but there was a lack of depth to the story. ( ) Mitch Knox is a memorable character, and he's consistent through this series. When he falls for Cody, it is unlikely, and no surprise that it's a struggle for both of them. The author left a lot of vagueness around Cody's ranch work with his family that I found a bit lazy, but that was my only real problem with the story. In each of these three books, one or another of the characters references acting like "girls" or "teenage girls" in derogatory ways. It was not character-specific, and so I note it here as an author flaw. Reading a second installment in a series can be tough because you can't help compare it to the first book. And that's a tall order here, because the first book is great. In this one, Kindle Alexander manages to capture some of the same threads that made the first book a hit, while taking readers in a different direction in terms of some of the themes and hooks. I am definitely ready to pick up the next book and see where that one goes as well. I was looking forward to reading this because I really liked the first book. Colt and Jace were a sweet couple. But Mitch and Cody? Holy hell I fell in love with them!!! Mitch was so sexy, strong, and more caring than you would expect after seeing his tough exterior. Cody was sweet and shy, which seems a contradiction to his job. Together, they were fabulous. They had such great chemistry. The story was a great continuation of the mystery surrounding Colt and Jace in [b:Double Full|18513700|Double Full (Nice Guys, #1)|Kindle Alexander|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1379433285s/18513700.jpg|26208630] and I shrieked "No!!" At the ending knowing I need another book to see more resolution, then said "Yay! Another book is coming!" Were there some moments that made me push the I believe button because it didn't seem too realistic? Yes. Of course. But this is fiction so I can give some leeway, especially when the characters grab me like Mitch and Cody did. I read this a second time, and I can very definitively say that I am madly in love with Mitch Knox. He is such a great character. This book continues to be my favorite in the series. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
