This book was either too much or not enough. It could have had a tighter plot, prose, and world and less words, meandering, and characters. Plus there were some planted thoughts that I wasn't a fan of. ( )

A retold fairy tale with a bad fairy godmother. Interesting. ( )

Two irrelevant things that bothered me about the book cover and summary:

1) "When the glass slipper doesn't fit."
There are no ill-fitting glass slippers in the book. All shoes fit quite well.

2) "...the only thing for her to do is trade in the glass slipper for a sword and find her own destiny."
Pin doesn't choose a sword. ( )

I loved how terribly meta it was, and the demands of Story while having to tell a satisfying story that does have its own demands. Excellent. My own real complaint is that, to my ear, Pin sounds pronounced exactly the same as Pen. ( )

Fun twist on classic fairytales that keeps you on your toes. Really enjoyed it! ( )
