Richard Scrope, the Archbishop of York from 1398 was tried and executed in 1405 for his part in a rebellion against Henry IV. He quickly attained the status of a martyr, his tomb a popular site for pilgrimage in the north of England. This collection of essays offer a reconsideration of Scrope's career and legacy.
