Best Friends, is the story of two children who are best friends that spend all of their time together. They walk to school, eat lunch, and play together. However, one day one child doesn't meet the other for school. The deserted child then thinks that the two are not friends anymore.

While reading this story, I could relate it to the way younger children react to each other, and though it did a wonderful job of exemplifying how simple and vulnerable their emotions really are. It does a good job of teaching children not to jump to conclusions.

I would like to read this to a class and then talk to them about how important communication is, and why it's good not to assume things. I would then have them color a picture portraying the emotions they think the characters were feeling.
