A Cole McGinnis Mystery From the moment former LAPD detective Bobby Dawson spots Ichiro Tokugawa, he knows the man is trouble. And not just because the much younger Japanese inker is hot, complicated, and pushes every one of Bobby's buttons. No, Ichi is trouble because he's Cole McGinnis's younger brother and off-limits in every possible way. And Bobby knows that even before Cole threatens to kill him for looking Ichi's way. But despite his gut telling him Ichi is bad news, Bobby can't stop looking⦠or wanting. Ichi was never one to play by the rules. Growing up in Japan as his father's heir, he'd been bound by every rule imaginable until he had enough and walked away from everything to become his own man. Los Angeles was supposed to be a brief pitstop before he moved on, but after connecting with his American half-brothers, it looks like a good city to call home for a whileâif it weren't for Bobby Dawson. Bobby is definitely a love-them-and-leave-them type, a philosophy Ichi whole-heartedly agrees with. Family was as much of a relationship as Ichi was looking for, but something about the gruff and handsome Bobby Dawson makes Ichi want more. Much, much more.… (meer)

emo-drama, erotica, family-drama, family-dynamics, family-expectations, multicultural, read, siblings***

Totally emo. The plot hops around to cover gaps in the family drama and the romance adjustment aspects. Not what I was looking for this time. ( )

A 3 stars book upped to 4 star due the las five chapters, I loved them.
I love Bobby. ( )

Forbidden love, May-December, snarkily sweet. I loved Itchi and Bobby. This book is shorter than any of the first four, and best read after them (the four-book Cole wooing Jae and trying not to get killed story). The sex scenes still have too many descriptive words, by which I mean it obscures what's happening and how the characters are reacting/feeling. But they're certainly readable and sometimes funny, so I don't skip them. :) ( )

"if you and I go to that bed, and I get to do what I want with you, I might not ever want to let you go. Then what’s going to happen to me when you get tired of it and walk off?”

5 stars for the Audiobook

3.75 stars for the story

I am too tired to write a proper review, i hope this will do:

-Loved Greg's narration, this guy can give me an eargasm anytime and i would never complain.

- I enjoyed getting to know more about Bobby's past, and what made him, be the way he was. Honestly Bobby is just amazing.

- Ichi is adorable and i loved him even more here.

-There was no mystery here, just a sweet, candy coated, sugary romance.

-I wanted to punch Bobby's son so hard and Mike too.

- Bobby's humor was on point and had me laughing.

“He gave a halfhearted hope Ichiro could walk on his own steam, but a few fumbling tries to get him up onto his feet only showed Bobby how Ichi’s legs could double as overcooked noodles.”

Overall it was a great addition to the series. ( )

I loved being inside both Bobby and Ichi's head. They really took off from what they've been in the preceding books and lived their own life. Both men are scarred and bloodied from past experiences but they're so open about it all with each other. They don't hide behind it or use it as a shield. Refreshing!

The sex is incredibly hot but it really couldn't not be since the sexual attraction is where it all starts from. It was so much fun reading Bobby trying to justify to himself why he should keep away from Ichi. Bobby's pretty much just as snarky as Cole which is something I've always liked about him.

I've liked Ichi from the moment he came into Cole's life, but I really liked him now. He's never come off as fragile as Jae, there's always been more Cole in him, but I loved how he wasn't afraid or ashamed to show his vulnerability to Bobby but instead he went to him to speak with him about it. Another point for Ichi.

And I kind of really liked the fact that dealing with Bobby's issues and dealing with Ichi's issues didn't take the whole village, they dealt with them on their own. Except for when Claudia stepped in but like she said, it wasn't really about Bobby and Ichi.

The ending left me thinking there's more to Bobby and Ichi's story because that just couldn't be all of it, not with an ending like that.

I'm not saying I'm not disappointed this wasn't a book about Cole and Jae, because I kind of was, and that may cloud my judgement here. Because I really, really love those guys, and I want to peek into what their life is now that they're really a couple without all the drama and hassle. The little drops of them in here were good, though, so I don't feel completely left without. I just wish there was more. ( )
