"On his last day before retirement, Mr. Frank is sewing the most wonderful outfit of his long career. In all his years working as a tailor, Mr. Frank has made all kinds of clothes. From the practical uniforms of the 1940s to the wild and weird designs of the 1960s and 1970s, he has seen (and sewn) just about everything. But todays project is especially close to Mr. Frank's heart. With its use of textiles and sensitive period detail, Irene Luxbacher's artwork that is the perfect complement to her understated text. The result is a story that children and grandparents can share with equal delight" -- Provided from publisher.… (meer)

I liked this book for many reasons. The plot gave you a sense of suspense on who Mr. Frank was making an important outfit for. I like that you did not know the final answer till the end. To me, I was surprised that Mr. Frank was retiring and making it for his grandchild. I think the author did an excellent job to engage the reader in order to gain the eagerness as the reader continues on with the story. Overall, I think it was a great book for all reading ages. ( )

I absolutely adored this book. It really made me tear up a little bit at the end. I especially liked the illustrations as the book went through different decades to compare Mr. Frank's work. The pictures showed the differences in clothing throughout the years as the text explained some characteristics of this decade's clothing. However, none of these seemingly important clothes were nearly as important as his latest and final project... a costume for his grandson! This book is a brilliant and creative way to promote the importance of family as it makes it into a sort of mystery. The reader is reading the book waiting to see what type of outfit Mr. Frank could be making that is SO important. Because Mr. Frank compares it to all of his other important assignments, the reader can see just how much his family means to him. The overall message of the book is that no matter what, family should come first. Family is more important than anything, even a job you've loved for decades. ( )

I liked this book because it expresses the importance of family. It does this by tying the illustrations to the writing by showing that the most important outfits Mr. Frank the tailor could ever make were the costumes that he made for his grandson. The main idea of this book is that no matter what you have /done or achieved in your life, nothing will be as rewarding as making you family happy. An example of this would be when Mr. Frank was explaining all the different outfits he had made and although the other outfits were “special” the costume for his grandson would be “[e]ven more special”. Mr. Frank had many opportunities in his life to create very extravagant outfits but the most “perfectly fit… stylish…playful…dazzling…comfortable…soft…light…durable…warm and cozy” outfit he has created in all his life is the play costume for his grandson. At the end of the book there are no more words explaining just the illustrations of Mr. Frank giving his grandson costume after costume.

In my opinion this book is a 10 book. The book only had two characters, but these characters were easy to connect with. The main character Mr. Frank is a tailor who has made many different outfits over the years. He gets a call from a special person and the person asks him to create the most exciting thing he has ever created. He starts to reminisce about all of the different things he has made over the years. After that, he begins to work on the item for the special person and Mr. Frank decides its time for him to close his shop. You must read the book to figure out who the special person is and what the special item is that he makes for the special person. As for the illustrations in the book, they are amazing. They incorporate so many details that plain illustrations do not. Specifically the page with the ballerinas on it. The ballerinas have intricate details throughout the page and there may not be a lot of words describing how they looked, the illustrations do that for the reader. I would recommend this book for anyone who has either a strong connection with an older person or for some one who just enjoys a happy story! ( )
