A fun cheerful holiday read for student’s 2nd-5th grade. - SB It's a little incredulous in these diverse times to imagine a town embracing Christmas so completely, and even when readers learn who the "GB" (Great Benefactor) is, there are still unanswered questions as to how GB pulled off such generosity anonymously for 25 years. But why be a Grinch about it. Earnest young readers will appreciate the Angel Tree's miracles (that seem to come fast and furious) and it's a wholesome family readaloud that unabashedly cherishes the spirit of the holiday. The Angel Tree Pine River, and every year a tree appears and everybody posts their wishes on the branches. This year the kids are determined to find out who puts the tree in the town square. Valerie wants her seeing eye dog to have surgery, another boy wants a new house for his family. Angels take one of the tied wishes and make the dream come true but this year is different...3 kids combine their talents to figure out who the angel is that makes it all happen.
