This is a "3: I would continue" and not a "3: I don't need more." ( ) This book is a compilation of five comics and it shows. The storylines are different and there is not one single storyline that drives the comic like there usually is when they combine them into one book. The book just bounces from one story to another. It's an interesting way to read one of these books, though kind of irritating when you're looking to connect the stories and there's no connection. One story has Storm stopping a tsunami from hitting the town of Santo Marco and saving the people and the village. The government there is not so welcoming of her presence as the people and want the mutant gone. So, at Beast's urging, she leaves to stop an incident from happening. But she doesn't stay away for long and it's a good thing because something underhanded is going on. Another story has Storm dealing with her grief over Logan's death by visiting Yukio. Logan was supposed to be there to meet with him over some business. Yukio is more upset than normal about Logan being dead. Storm finds out that Logan was helping him with an underground gang where they sit and work out their problems around a table and any disagreements are fought on a field of battle by members of the gangs. This has kept the gangs from killing innocent civilians. Storm, of course, has a big problem with it and makes trouble for everyone causing chaos and disrupting the careful treaty they have. The stories in this book are really good and once I got over trying to find a way to piece them together somehow it stopped driving me crazy. There's a scene where it's a blue-black night and she's starting a lighting storm and it's just flat out gorgeous in its coloring and drawing. The colors in this book are just beautiful and Storm is drawn in such a powerful way with her mohawk and fierce features. This patchwork of stories may have no connection other than Storm, but most of them are really good (One is a little weak). I can still recommend this comic. A cool comic only tarnished for me by the jarring “plot point happening halfway through in another book” thing they pulled here. I guess that’s a standard thing with books that are part of a larger, active ensemble universe, but it’s not something I’m used to, and was really my first exposure to that. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"Thief. Goddess. Headmistress. Queen. The X-Man called Storm has always defied a single title. And her desire to better the world has never been limited to only her own kind. On an ongoing mission to foster goodwill, and safeguard both humankind and mutants, Ororo Munroe will travel the globe--confronting villains, gods, monsters and everything in between. She will overthrow tyrants, quell tsunamis and strive to see her dream for the world realized. She is Storm, a hero like no other--and the skies will tremble at the sight of their namesake. But now, Storm must handle the fallout caused by familiar faces from her past. Why is Callisto kidnapping wayward youths from the streets of New York? When an old lover asks for her help will she answer the call? And can Yukio help Storm deal with the death of Wolverine?" -- Unedited summary from the book. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
