One little girl knows just the trick to put them all to sleep. I like the illustrations in this book especially for ELL learners. They can understand what is going on based on the illustrations. Other students can keep writing more reasons that the animals do not want to take a nap. Bold black brushstrokes make up the text and the outlines of all of the animals in this story, none of whom want to take a nap. The giraffe is too tall to nap, the elephant too big, and as for the lion? Kings don't take naps. The little girl's solution is simple and - at least in the story - effective: close one eye...and then the other. That's all there is to it! (Note: doesn't always work in real life, but worth a try.) The animals' cranky expressions - especially on the page where they are all winking - are priceless. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
