I would suggest this for 2nd and 3rd graders. It is a very simple book but it has some parts that are intended for a little bit of an older audience. This was a similar take on other traditional Little Red Riding Hood stories. This book was about a little girl who traveled through the forrest to visit her sick grandma. On her way she came across a wolf. The wolf talked to her and was on his way. When she arrived to her grandmas house she noticed that a few things were off about her grandma. As she was taking to her grandma (who was actually the wolf) the wolf jumped up and gulped little read riding hood into his belly. When the logger outside heard the scream, she ran in and shook the wolf until little read riding hood and grandma came back our of his belly. The wolf was so embarrassed, he ran off and was never seen again. I think is book is cute, but I do believe there are better takes on the story. I do not think that I would read this book to a classroom of students because the wold eats the grandma and little red riding hood and I think that thats too inappropriate for a class read aloud. I do believe that I could find other red riding hood stories that are more appropriate for the classroom. I might use one of these for a story time. This book is a classic fairy tale that a lot of students have either read or heard of before coming to school. I think this would make a great mentor text in either first or second grade. A perfect way to incorporate this text in the lessons would be being able to talk about how important of the "nice guy" and the "bad guy". A lesson that could be created from this short story could be having students work with partners and create their own story that there is a good guy and a bad guy and have them work through the writing process. I gave this story five stars because It is a wonderful book that I have loved since I was a little girl. Little Red Riding Hood is a classic folk tale about a young girl who runs into a wolf while she's walking to grandma's house. Little does she know that this wolf is wicked and has bad intentions. This children's book is great for readers to find the problem and solution and other story elements within the book. It is also full of suspense and will have your readers ask questions along the way. Highly recommended! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

This version is relatively non-violent, with the wolf swallowing grandma in one gulp, and later the woodcutter picking up the wolf to shake grandma and red riding hood out - no axes mentioned, though it does talk about sharp teeth.
