Penguin 60s extract only ( ) Great as an introduction to philosophy... but, sadly, I couldn't finish it. I found it way too long and tiring. I felt as though I was being forced to learn about the history of philosophy... and the central character of Sophie was profoundly annoying. I know that there was going to be a twist of some kind at the book's conclusion, but I was toiling so much reading it, that I just wasn't interested enough to find out how it ended. Funnily enough, while I was reading this book, I had the opportunity to see the writer speak at the Melbourne Writer's Festival. I found his talk tough to endure as well. Although, I recognised his "voice" when he spoke (as I was reading his book), I was still as uninterested in the way he expressed his thoughts in person as he did in this book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
