Tree books are often taxonomic, but because trees are actually a fairly small subset of total plant diversity, taxonomic tree guides are much easier to use than taxonomic wildflower/plant guides - there's a lot less to thumb through, and except for the occasional polymorphic weirdos like the oaks, a taxonomic tree guide is automatically mostly organized by leaf shape. I like this one in particular, though, because it includes a full-length photo of each tree in its typical shape when growing in a field, summer and winter, as well as images of the bark, seeds, and flowers. The text is great, too, and it includes pretty much all of the large native American trees. I could wish it used more drawings than photos (or the photos were at least color), but you can't win 'em all. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
