This is a story of froggy and finding a new home once his old one is destroyed. He is sent on a new adventure when he is captured in a jar. Froggy finally finds his way back home.
Age- preschool- K
Critique of the genre- This is realistic fiction because the story is told about him. He never behaves in a way that is not frog-like.
Media- Water colors ( )

I loved this book, I thought it was very creative and I did not expect what happened to happen. A great fable about accepting change and appreciating what you have. ( )

Characters: Froggy, Otters, Blue Rays, caterpillar and a boy.

Setting: A pond and a jar.

Theme: Changing situations and/or having an open mind to change. Learning about where animals live and their changing environment.

Genre: Fable

Summary: Froggy lives very happy under his rock next to a peaceful pond but one day things change a family of otters and a family of blue rays move next to the pond. It is know very noisy and the otters splash the water in the pond he does no like this because things are out of place. One day the caterpillar tells him that he needs to welcome change into his life and Froggy tells her he only likes what he is used to. One day a boy takes him and puts him in a jar he was so scared. As they are going through the woods the boy drops the jar and Froggy is able to get away. He is lost in the woods and is very scared, soon he hears noise that he is able to recognize it was the blue rays and the loud splashes of the otters. Froggy runs towards then and sees his pond witht he blue rays and the otters he was so happy to return to the same place and learn that he needed to welcome change and once in a while try something new.

Golden quote: "True, his old rock had been torn away, but he found a perfect spot to dig another hole, with an even better view. After that day, the frog didn't mind so much when things changed-he could handle anything. He even tried aomething new once in a while. And things were never the same again."

Audience: Children ages 2 year olds to adults

Curriculum ties: ELA—students could write theri own fables using theri own experiences and can incoeporate diffrent animals and the way the environmnet make them change their life style. This can also be an activity that can combine science and language arts especially to teach sentence structure and global warming.

Personal response: This is a great book to read to children and older kids when they do not want to accept change or feel others are changing their life styles. This book is a tool to show children how living environment change due to nature and to what people do to them.

Another one my 3 year old fell in love with. A frog lives quietly and alone by his pond, but then other animals move in, which upsets him. It is only when something momentous happens that he realises how much he loves his home - even with all the changes.

According to my 3 year old, he liked it because everything changed, and he liked it when the frog came home.

This book is about a frog that has the same quiet routine everyday. He like it like this. But one day everything changes and he doesn't like it at all. One day he is captured by a small child but escapes and is lost for a while. He realizes that change is not a bad thing and actually found his home again. This book could teach children about changes in life, which happens to everyone, and that change is not always a bad thing or can possibly be a good thing in disguise. ( )
