Arthur is put in charge of the Thanksgiving play. Arthur's friends are extra nice to him, to be sure they get the parts they want. This is nice, until Arthur realizes that nobody wants to play the turkey--and he can't have a play called The Big Turkey Hunt without a turkey! I was expecting a lesson about leadership, or standing up to your friends, or something, but in the end Arthur just plays the turkey himself, and his friends are kind enough to join him in his embarrassment. Disappointing. Another average book. All of the Arthur books are classic and loved by many. This one in particular is great for young children, especially Kindergarteners, because it centers around Thanksgiving play. Most elementary schools host Thanksgiving plays in which the Kindergarten classes participate. Children will love the ridiculousness of Arthur's actions and want to read it over and over again. This book is great for children and the whole because it will go really well with the holiday, Thanksgiving. The story is about Arthur is puts on a play about Thanksgiving but is having trouble because he can't find anyone to play the turkey. His classmates tell him if he can't find a turkey, they will quit the play. Finally, to save his own play, Arthur steps in plays the turkey, He saved the day and Thanksgiving for him and his classmates. In my opinion this is a good book. I liked this story because it taught you about how Thanksgiving came about without out right saying it. I also liked this book because of the plot. The story focused on a play that the children were creating at school. Through reading the story you learn about how hard it can be to plan something like a play and the different aspects that go in to it. The big message in this story would be that if you all work together and try to get along, you can create something magnificent and successful. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
