The way that Bill's introduces and describes his relatives display the closeness, the love and care that his family had for each other. His upbringing and the cycles of becoming a young man are revealed as his inner person uncovers some of the ways and whys that his life had changed. It seams that the most life changing event in Bill's life was the meeting with and joining of the "Herd from 93rd" at the impressionable age of 16. Was this a blessing or was it a situation that could end up destroying his morals and upbringing. First impression? Well, these guys seem
to be a lot of fun but being the new guy, he's got to test the waters so to speak before he makes any long range commitments.
Bill tells that as time goes by, he becomes, "one of the boys" and it leads to some good times and some times that weren't so good and could in fact lead to some serious consequences.
Scalin, over time comes to the realization that the Herd is really in it for the long haul and wonders why the bond that he discovered at sixteen continues to be as close some forty years later. The answer of this fairly unusual likelihood can be revealed and embraced as you read about "The Herd from 93rd." I am R. Kucera, I was Bobby Catalano of the Herd." ( )
