An amazing, funny but a little sad, autobiography of the most beloved (by the fans) and most hated (by most of the other baseball team owners) owner who ever lived. ( ) While some of the stories should be taken with a grain of salt, there's no question that this is a marvelously entertaining book. A fair amount of it is score-settling, especially against Bill Weiss, Ford Frick, Del Webb and others that ran baseball in the 1950s and 1960s. However, Veeck also tells stories against himself, and is not immune to self-criticism for some of his failures. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderscheidingen
Bill Veeck was an inspired team builder, a consummate showman, and one of the greatest baseball men ever involved in the game. His classic autobiography, written with the talented sportswriter Ed Linn, is an uproarious book packed with information about the history of baseball and tales of players and owners, including some of the most entertaining stories in all of sports literature.
