In this story three toys go outside and experience snow for the first time. Each one has a different experience and believes the snow is magical. This story reminds us to have a childlike lens and to view the world with different perspectives. I might use this in the class to encourage my students to think about regular daily activities that we can think about differently. ( ) This book would be a great Wintertime read aloud for primary aged students. This book is about three toys going outside when it is snowing and experiencing snow for the first time. Each toy has a different perspective when playing in the snow, but in the end they can all agree that the snow is magical. I found this book to be really sweet and endearing. It shared a perspective of the snow that painted it in a really magical light and reminded me of the importance of not always being a realist, but also choosing to look at things through a magical lens as well. For my students, this would be a great way to show them that everybody has different perspectives and a way of viewing the world. Beautiful and funny, the story of three toys who go out to explore the first snowfall of the year. Lumphy is curious, StingRay "more poetic than factual," and Plastic a bouncy book-lover. Zelinsky's gorgeous, playful illustrations pair perfectly with Jenkins' gentle, slyly funny text.
