Ionesco shows immense talent but an even greater desire to be absurd (maybe anachronistic term), but regardless, A Stroll in the Air has nuggets of delightful wisdom. And a lot of wig snatching. Almost... Camp? Idk. ( ) At first I thought these plays were going to be extremely weak entries in the Ionesco canon. I have never seen either of them performed, and hadn't heard of either of them until I received this book as a gift. As the plays got going, the Ionesco style began to show through. I suspect the slow start would not seem so slow in performance. I found it interesting that the plot of A Stroll in the Air made me think of the Rushdie book I recently read, and I spent some time wondering if Rushdie was familiar with the play, or if it was just coincidence that I should read two so similarly themed works so close together. I do recommend this for those who like Ionesco; for those who don't, well, they'd probably just say "that's weird". geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
