The first thing I noticed when scanning through the contributors was the number of familiar names. The second was how many of them are women, and it's wonderful. Often you have to read 'best by women' anthologies to get this sort of representation so it's awesome to see it in a by merit 'best' anthology. The stories are extremely varied, most wonderfully weird. A couple of them I just didn't 'get' because they were leaning too much towards experimental writing but it's a strong collection. It's always great to read Australian works but this really is a world-class anthology. ( )
