I read the beginning of this book on Wattpad and I liked it so much that I immediately bought it. I love urban fantasy and this is up there with some of my favourites. Kildare writes extremely well and weaves a wonderful fantasy into our modern day world. The characters are complicated and believable. The pacing of the story is excellent and the mystery quickly draws you in. I think one of the things that initially impressed me was the convincing portrayal of a troubled young woman dealing with her grief and the suicide of her friend. Having lost close friends in the past I found this issue was sensitively handled and utterly convincing. At that point I was hooked and the fantasy mystery / adventure took over and kept me engaged for the rest of the story. My only complaint was that it was over too quickly. If I was being really picky I would say that I'm not sure if I think the end was dramatic enough. However that could just be because I loved the story and wanted it to continue! ( )
