Overall a fun and funny read that I will wholeheartedly feel happy to recommend to young readers. ( ) Mr. Postmouse sets out on his delivery route with a loaded wagon, and delivers a variety of packages to other animals (rabbits, skunks, birds, etc.) before arriving home with a final, birthday parcel for his own child. The large trim size allows a level of detail without creating a cluttered feeling; the illustrations feel calm, almost static, but are full of humorous, clever touches and allusions. See also: Mr. Postmouse Takes A Trip A simple story about Mr. Postmouse loading up his wagon to make his daily deliveries. There are all sorts of animals living in the village and around the area so he has a long day ahead. He must walk, travel by boat, as well as by plane. There is not much of a story here, but the great thing about this book is the illustrations. They show the inside and outside of each home. The detail in the rooms is amazing and children will love looking through them and pointing out the various items. The vocabulary development of young children would be amazing with this book as well as discussions about our homes and those of others. Older children will love the humour and jokes in the illustrations. Some are very obvious and some are less subtle. This book is great for a variety of ages. Thank you to Netgalley and Kids Can Press for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review. Mr. Postmouse's rounds take him to a variety of animal residences, and through a variety of climates, but our intrepid murine hero lets nothing stand in the way of delivering the letters and parcels entrusted to his care. Whether it be a delivery of nuts for Mr. Squirrel or a worrying package for the hens, Mr. Postmouse always comes through... Originally published in French as La tournée de facteur souris, this delightful picture-book from French-Canadian author/illustrator Marianne Dubuc has a simple enough text, and wonderfully detailed illustrations. Quite a bit of the enjoyment offered by the book comes from perusing those illustrations, and observing the many different homes, with their diverse layouts and structures. There are plenty of humorous visual details - the fact that the packages delivered to the hens is clearly a fox in disguise, for instance - to keep the reader entertained and engaged. Recommended to anyone looking for fun picture-books featuring animals characters and/or postal deliveries. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
