A first rate collection of some of the 1980s' major writings of women's spiritual reflections, as well as their critical insights into traditional theology, prayer, ethics, and society. Puts forth a feminist spiritual vision that is large, diverse. One they can encompass the depths and complexity of women's lives and traditions.
This collection of essays is among my top religious reads of all time (so much so that I bought womanspirit rising by the same editors).
One of the things that really sets this collection apart is the inclusion of essays by authors of all religious backgrounds. Paganism, Judaism, Christianity - all standing side by side with the same message - the re-establishment of the right of women to religious experience inside of a male-dominated cultural construct. It is not enough for women to be spiritual in privacy, but they should also do so publicly, and be respected for it. ( )
