Short sharp stories, with nasty twisty bits, and so so human. ( )

This is an outstanding collection of short stories! Each one is unique, reels in the reader right from the start, and the endings.....oh the endings!! Each ending brings a frisson of delight with its twist! A profound, and at the same time witty, writer. An absolutely great read! ( )

This is one of the best, if not THE best short story collection I've ever read. I found myself whispering an awed "wow" at the end of each one. The range and scope of these stories is amazing - they are set all over the world at different time periods. Some are funny, some sad, and some heartbreakingly tragic. These are stories to savor and re-read, although I could not help myself from barrelling through them - each an addicting and delicious piece of candy to this reader. ( )
