This Amish story begins as a gentle and slow-moving tale, descriptive in both setting and characters. Katrina has to leave her beau behind when her father, a widower, moves his family to Stoney Ridge. Though she traveled back a couple of times to visit her beau, she is completely devastated when he informs her that he is marrying someone else. Other problems arise for several of the characters, but the major problem occurs when secrets are disclosed involving the leadership of the church. Don’t look for a lot of action in the first half of the novel, and don’t expect a lot of closure, either, at the end in this first book of the trilogy. Still, the author sets up several interesting storylines, which should keep readers interested in life at Stoney Ridge. As always, Suzanne Woods Fisher has penned another well written tale. ( )

Normally I am all in on Amish fiction but this one just didn't do it for me. I don't know if my "belief" was suspended by all the modern conveniences (washing machines, pregnancy tests, bobby pins, etc.) or if I just didn't love any of the characters. Our sweet and innocent protagonist turns out to be carrying a pretty big secret that was never alluded to and was in fact, the most scandalous thing ever. My favorite character is hands down, Birdie. The gentle giant that falls for David. I'll continue with the series and hope the rest resonates with me. ( )

What a delightful booK! It will surprise you, teach you, and help you see yourself differently. I laughed, cried, and even got angry at some of the characters! David Stoltzfus and his six children are making a go at life without their beloved mother and wife in a new town and a new church. David has even taken on a new role as the new minister and runs the Bent and Dent Store. He has no idea what he has signed on for or what kind of church or town he has landed in. But he feels God has called him. His two oldest, Katrina and Jesse bring more than their fare share of dilemmas adding more onto his shoulders. Many of the people in this town are familiar from other Suzanne Woods Fisher's books which adds depth to the story but you can read this as a stand alone.The wisdom she passes on through her words are ageless. I had to keep reading as though a magnet was pulling me through the pages. What a darling but poignant book The Imposter is for the reader! I highly recommend it!

From what I gather, no woman wants to get married when they're Amish! No, let me retract- most of the marriages are arranged with no love involved, so when you think you're about to marry and it's to the Amish man of your dreams, that's a Big Deal! But what happens when the man you think you're going to marry doesn't want to marry you? It's a twist unheard of! And sums up the first part of The Imposter, by Suzanne Woods Fisher. When I first began this book, I was a bit confused. There was so much going on in this tale, I thought I was getting confused from time time, on who was speaking. I had to get my storylines straight before I lost interest. Thankfully, I did. The story is about Katrina- the girl who had everything figured out. Who she was marrying and how her life would fit the traditional mold- except she wanted to marry John and live her happily ever after. But her love ran away and left her shattered! It's not until she meets Andy that she learns about herself and what to expect and not expect of others. But so much more grows within her- in any woman who learns a lesson.

I really appreciated the lessons in this book. I love when you can walk away from a Christian book, nodding in approval. It wasn't one that I'd run off telling of how it changed my life or that I'd even read it more than twice (especially since I've never read my favorite book twice), but there was substance to it. From what I understand, many of the characters in this book are in other books by Fisher, making a network I may decide to dive into, but I'm just not sure yet. The world of Amish romance is new to me and takes some getting used to.

Another aspect I enjoyed was the supportive father in this story. Katrina's father, David, was supportive, even though everything in Katrina's life was against the core values of the Amish community. But that's another storyline within the story. I can't say much because so much is going on in this book- and I don't am totally against SPOILERS! You'll just have to pick up your own copy of the book. :)

So if you're looking for a turn-about in the story of arranged marriages, with the guy as the Runaway Bride (lol), check out Suzanne's The Imposter. On to the next book

I was very intrigued by this book due to the title. How many of us have had imposters in our life? We think they are a perfect fit for us, then it turns out we were wrong. People can surprise us with their charm and somehow before we know it, we feel deceived, hurt and untrusting when they turn out to be an imposter. THE IMPOSTER draws on the emotions of several characters and gives us a glimpse into the flaws of people that seemed trustworthy but turned out to be quite the opposite.

What would you do it the love of your life wasn't who you thought they were? Works you give up and crawl into a shell or move forward and trust God ? Katrina finds herself asking these questions as she learns that the man she was to marry has deceived her. She is heartbroken to learn that her beau is set to marry someone else. When an opportunity arises to help a widow, Katrina along with her father decide she should go. Maybe this is just what she needs to clear her head and trust God for her new season. It's funny how we think when things are so bad, thst God always has a plan. Katrina will find herself wondering if she can truly trust her heart when someone new enters her life. Will this new man be a good, kind, hardworking and trusting person? Is he the IMPOSTER?

There are several other characters that are intricate to the story. They each have a pivotal role in the story that seems to interweave as the author delivers an outstanding book that is filled with some funny moments which lighten the story a bit. It isn't easy to know for sure who the IMPOSTER is but as the story takes readers on twists and turns, you become so involved thst you can't put the book down. The author has started a new series that is sure to become a favorite as each character finds their way with help from scriptures placed gracefully throughout the story. I love how the author has a charming way of pointing her characters to God in a gentle way and gives readers an emotional journey that ends with hope, love and trust.
