The book is the speech that Abraham Lincoln spoke once the Union defeated the Confederacy at the battle of Gettysburg. The speech was only two minutes long and he spoke about equality and freedom. The book is the speech with great illustrations and the whole book is black and white. The last page is amazing because the three American flags are blowing and black and white people are finally united as one. The book has many pictures of the two battling and many pictures of the destruction of the war. The book would be great to read to students when learning about the Civil War. I really like this book for a few reasons. One it sends a powerful message in such a short manner. This book can be read by all ages however, only higher aged students will understand the meaning of what actually happened in Gettysburg in July of 1863. There is a forward at the beginning of the book that also goes into great depth about war happened those first 3 days in July. From the forward, you learn a lot. Since the book is strictly what Abraham Lincoln said in 3 minutes, one may need further investigation to figure out why he said what he said. I also liked how the forward talked about the crowds reaction. Even though Lincoln's speech was 272 words, the crowd applauded him 5 different times. Not only did this book give a powerful message, the pictures give one too. The pictures are in black and white and colored with pencil. The pictures show emotion and hardship. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

The words of President Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address are as relevant and meaningful today as they were in 1863. This magnificent book is a stunning exploration of some of the most powerful words ever spoken in American history. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
