Compton-Burnett (read 26 Nov 1994) This tells of the Challoner house, held by Sir Simon. After his brother dies, he, at age 70, marries. His nephew and prospective heir impregnates his uncle's wife and this is the story of the resulting complications. This book is very well-done, even though it is about all dialogue. The blurb says her books demand "a connoisseur's palate and total attention," which is true. I liked the book I read by this author 40 years ago (Darkness and Day) and it is surprising I waited this long to read another by her. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
