I wish someone had told me to read the inside jacket and skip it altogether. Very disappointed with this one. A third of the book done and no forensic sculptor story, but a continuance of the previous book, Shadow Play. I didn't know this is Johansen's format, mini trilogy within the main series. The unnatural dialogs in the book doesn't help. Eve and Joe came out as rude people, unlikable especially Eve. I know that's not the case. The way they talk to people is just cut and dry. I sure don't feel like helping them. This is the second book in a trilogy. I love Eve Duncan, especially when she is in her element recreating faces on skulls. This book does not have any of that. In this story, Eve and Joe are trying to protect Cara Delaney/Castino, the kidnapped daughter of a drug lord from Mexico. Joe sends Eve and Cara off to Scotland where her adopted daughter Jane is going on a treasure hunt with Laird McDuff in the highlands. Jock and Caleb are also around. Everyone wants to protect both Eve and Cara. Lots of action, intrique, blowing stuff up etc. I actually give this book 3.5 stars and want to see how they wrap this up in the final book of this trilogy. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"Iris Johansen's beloved forensic sculptor Eve Duncan is back and now the stakes are higher than ever. Dramatic changes are on the horizon for Eve and Joe Quinn and their relationship may never be the same. Faced with the task of protecting Cara Delaney, a young girl with ruthless enemies who want to see her dead, Eve takes her away to the remote Scottish Highlands where they join Jane MacGuire in search of a hidden treasure. But nowhere is far enough away to protect Cara from danger. With enemies closing in from all sides, Hide Away is a high-octane thriller that fans will not want to miss"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

The story in HIDE AWAY takes up directly after SHADOW PLAY ended, and it can be confusing for someone who hasn't read the previous book to understand what is going on. Fortunately, you get an explanation to what happened in the previous book early on.
