Writing: 5.0; Theme: 4.5; Content: 4.5; Language: 5.0; Overall: 4.5 An aging man (Agios) befriends an outcast (Krampus) and travels across the globe in search of the meaning of the bright shining star from the east. They meet the three wisemen, among others, while discovering the joy and peace which only Jesus Christ can supply. As age takes over, Agios meets another young man (Nicholas) who also impacts human history by following the loving principles of his Savior. Highly recommend. ***December 22, 2022*** Beck has done an incredible job of writing an origin story for the fat man in red who, for better or worse, gets so much attention in December. The man who would be Santa Claus has been given a story that basically christianizes Santa, having his backstory intertwined with the life of Jesus, and later the 4th century priest Nikolaos of Myra (who is the model for the Santa Claus legend we have today). Even Krampus appears, though I'm not going to give away his role in the tale - it wasn't what I thought it would be. Many christian parents have debated what role Santa is going to play as they teach their children about Christmas. Like many, I grew up in a house that celebrated Christmas as being about the birth of Christ, but we still played the Santa "game", so to speak. Glenn Beck sought to write a holiday themed story that would include Santa, but still point people to Jesus, and still promote what our culture today refers to as "the Christmas spirit" - he has done just that. The length of the book seemed to me to be perfect for the story told. I didn't feel like it needed to be any longer, and it never felt like it was dragging. I really enjoyed it & would recommend it to anyone who, like myself, can enjoy the Santa Claus sideshow while celebrating the birth of Jesus. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
