I had to force myself to continue reading this book after the first couple chapters as the author did something I detest--describing every detail in detail! I makes for really boring reading when you spend half the book on adjectives or setting descriptions. And while that annoyed me to no end, I did like the retrospect way in which he told the told the story of the characters. In the end, I enjoyed it, but can't say that I would count it as a favourite. I did enjoy learning about what it was like to be Japanese in America during WWII... those descriptions were really heart wrenching as was the discrimination they continued to experience after the war.
