Greek mythology has been on my mind lately, and Hades and Persephone are two of my favorites. I chose this book because it seemed like the author included some lesser known aspects of the myths and didn't just use some names and a few major events and then run wild with the rest. (Obviously this isn't a dry, historical retelling or anything, =D but there wasn't that much that flew in the face of canon either). There were some parts that it might have been better without, but overall it was fun and easy to read. Definitely not for the prudish. The first book to breathe life and truth back into the idea of soulmates, "Receiver of Many" is a timeless story of a mother willing to see the end of humanity to protect her daughter, a man weary of waiting and impatient for the return of his Queen, and how much one woman desires to meet her fate. Surpassing my need for work, food, sleep, and contact with the outside world, this wonderful book had me on the edge of my seat desperate to know what happened next. Highly recommend if you're not a fan of "Fifty Shades of Grey" and want something that feels real and is thankfully miles beyond erotic clichés. Thank the gods there's a sequel! **I received this book in a GoodReads giveaway in exchange for an honest review.** I love the story of Hades and Persephone, so when I won this I couldn't be happier. I should tell you my only experience with erotica was Fifty Shades of Grey and I -hated- it, but this book, this book I was pleasantly surprised. I actually found myself enjoying the tale woven within this book and I loved the characters. I will for sure look into getting book two because now I need to know how this ends! I would recommend this book. 4.5 out of 5 stars. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Persephone's life has been one of leisure among the verdant fields: the maiden of flowers, sheltered by her mother, the Harvest Goddess Demeter. Now she is a woman, a goddess in her own right, yearning for freedom-- even as the terms of an ancient pact are about to come due.Hades's life has been one of solitude in the somber land of the dead: the God of the Underworld, he lives without attachments, eternally governing the souls of mortals. But he dreams of the young goddess who was promised to be his wife, and knows it is time for his Kingdom to have a Queen. When Hades arrives to claim his betrothed, he finds a young goddess eager to unearth her divine potential-- and a powerful mother unwilling to let go. Receiver of Many begins an erotic story of passion and possession, duty and desire, and a struggle that threatens both ancient Greece and the Realm of the Dead itself. What is unique to this story is how innocent both Hades and Persephone are - tho Hades has been alive for eons he has spent his life building up his land for his queen. ALSO
I would have liked more Thanatos bc he was hilarious. I really enjoyed Nyx and Hecate's roles as well. ( )
