Inspired in part by the biblical passage in Mark 5: 21-43, where Jesus is called to the house of a synagogue leader to heal a dying girl-child and is interrupted by the courageous touch of a hemorrhaging woman, the contributors of this volume reflect on the impacts of globalization(s), both theologically and biblically, in their own particular context. The articles in this volume examine a diversity of responses to globalization(s): HIV/AIDS in Africa, ethical responses to economic globalization for "First-World" Christians, the Dalit experience in India, the role of African universities, the plight of refugee women in North America, the ecumenical condition in Europe, the history of conquests through gastronomy, neoliberal impositions in Latin America, hybridity in the Americas, apocalyptic discourses in the post 9/11 context, and the ways in which social movements constitute experiences of the Pentecost.
