The strongest part of this book is the mother's story, which is beautifully and powerfully written. The other narratives felt incomplete, with many important elements left out. Many of the people were not fully realized in their pprtrayal, so it was difficult to understand their motivations and personalities beyond the obvious. My sense is that the whole. experience was just too understandably painful to go back and do a deeper edit and revision. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

At age twenty-eight, Mira Ptacin discovered she was pregnant. Though it was unplanned, she soon embraced the pregnancy and became engaged to Andrew, the father. But five months later, an ultrasound revealed birth defects that would give the child no chance of survival outside the womb. Mira was given three options: terminate her pregnancy, induce early delivery, or wait and inevitably miscarry. A memoir about loss and self-preservation, grief and recovery, mothers and daughters, and the bewildering layover between youth and adulthood. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
