I thought this was a fun way to gain perspective on how big (and small!) dinosaurs were. This book includes the name, definition, time period, size, and illustration of animals from the prehistoric time. There are bolded names of the animals and images that are true to size. It's engaging for students and in some cases, include a foldout page when necessary. This seems to be geared for grades 3-5. This is a good informational book with to-scale illustrations made from paper mache and colored pencils and sketches. It has a different prehistoric creature on each page (with some foldouts) and gives a brief explanation of what they ate and when they lived and how big they are. It also had how to pronounce its name. Age Appropriateness (Primary, Intermediate, Middle School): Intermediate Review/Critique: This book was amazing! The book talked about different dinosaurs that lived in prehistoric times. For each dinosaur listed in the book, there was a small description and a very detailed picture to go alone with it. Although this was an informational book, it had more pictures than words and I think this would be really appealing to young kids. This book would fit the genre of informational because it list facts about each specific dinosaur. Comments on Use: This book could be used in the class when discussing prehistoric science or even evolution. This book is very visual appealing has a lot of scientific aspects incorporated even though it is a picture book. Medium: Collages of cut and torn paper Holy cow! A millipede 2 ft long?! A dinosaur that looks like a slimmer T-Rex, but easily fits on a three-page spread?! And then the only part of Baryonyx that fits on a two-page spread is it's foot! And keep reading after the 'more information' notes, so you don't miss the rodent with claws and horns.... goodness. When I give a book five stars, that means that I think *everyone* should (would be glad to) read this. And so this gets that rating, and I will encourage my family to read it, too. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
