Renovation of the Heart is an influential contribution from the late Dallas Willard that continues to break ground twenty years after its first release. Helping us to understand how character is formed and where Jesus does his most significant work on our spiritual and emotional health, this book changed a generation's mind about what it means to follow Jesus-not a matter of sin management but a matter of drawing near and letting ourselves be shaped into the eternal people of God. With reflections on the book's impact over its life from family, friends, and admirers of Dallas, and supplemental resources for the first time in print, Renovation of the Heart will continue its ministry of liberation-by-formation for years to come. Includes a foreword by John Mark Comer and an afterword by Natasha Sistrunk Robinson.… (meer)

I decided to read this book after reading Relentless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. I have already determined that this will be a regular book to revisit, and to determine what my next steps in my spiritual journey will be, as I adopt the VIM method. I cannot begin to describe the changes I've already made in my daily walk just from reading this book over the last few weeks. Do you really desire to be a disciple of Christ? Read this book. ( )

Em linguagem objetiva, e ainda assim repleta de sensibilidade, Willard vasculha os processos e os componentes da natureza humana para propor um discipulado pessoal e o enfrentamento sem rodeios dos desafios à autenticidade da fé.

Willard lays out a treatise and guide to spiritual formation in Renovation of the Heart. His writing bears witness to his intellectual rigor as a trained philosopher and his pastoral heart for the Church. A key take away that can be helpful for groups is the notion that we are always being formed spiritually, for better or worse, by whatever habits and actions we take - our job is to orient our behavioral patterns toward Christ become spiritually formed into his likeness.

Good overall discussion of the various parts that are involved in bringing about change in the hearts of men - our own hearts and others. My only complaint is that it tended to lean a little too much on secular psychology rather than being based primarily in Scripture. Still, his conclusions seem largely consistent with Scripture and, I think, the result is helpful. ( )

Excellent book on transformation of the inner self. Patterned after the Biblical reference of Romans 12:1,2. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind". ( )

Those who drink of the water that I will give them will never again be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life. - Jesus of Nazareth (John 4:14, PAR)

When we open ourselves to the writings of the New Testament, when we absorb our minds and hearts in one of the Gospels, for example, or in letters such as Ephesians or 1 Peter, the overwhelming impression that comes upon us is that we are looking into another world and another life.
