So I got the philosophical musings out of my head with the first book, and this one became about the struggles A faces. Can A stop X? It didn't occur to me that A might empathize with X, but I think part of that is because we see inside X's head and not just what X is presenting (somewhat persuasively). I admit I was a bit worried for a while, but things worked out and came together and it was good, even though the perfect happy ending just couldn't happen. ( )

“There are some days you know ahead of time are going to be important, but most of the important ones end up catching you by surprise. the best thing to do is to treat all your days well. Then see what happens.”

I’ll admit that some aspects of this book disappointed me. I absolutely LOVED Everyday and unfortunately this book didn’t quite meet my expectations. It was rather slow paced and really the most interesting parts were X’s POV. It felt like a bunch of filler with a bit of story sprinkled in. Though I must say the ending was quite satisfying. It was the best I could have hoped for. And given that I once thought Everyday was going to be a solo novel I MUCH prefer this ending. ( )

I loved the first book in this series, but have felt slightly underwhelmed with each passing book that I read. I appreciate the way that this ended but agree with some of the other reviews that I read stating that other readers were more interested in the side stories of the other characters who were like A but had never met him. I enjoyed seeing their take on their strange life and how they were choosing to live similarly or very differently from A. I still greatly value the morals and messages of this book, but it felt slower than the other book. I was over 80% of the way through it and wasn't sure if we were going to have any resolution at all. A's growth in this book didn't feel all that great compared the first 2 books which may explain where my lack of enthusiasm for the book is coming from. Overall, I'm glad I read this final installment in the series but feel A's growth could have been more significant. ( )

New perspectives in this book made this a cool read, which had me paying closer attention to who was narrating and when. I also felt like the ending worked well for all of my favorite characters, while answering some major questions about how people like A existed and how they could stop existing. I'm really glad I finished the series :)

The most thought provoking perspective A spent a day in was the boy with Attention Deficit Disorder, where the body had so much control over the mind and forced A into the present and could not stop talking, or changing focus. Having worked with people with ADHD at scout camp and after having family members with more mild manifestations of the same experiences, it was so interesting, but so exhausting at the same time. The stream of consciousness was so accurate to what I imagine living is like. ( )

This was one of those books I just couldn't make myself pick up at home, but was always looking forward to getting back to at work. Don't ask me why. But that is essentially why it has taken me three weeks to finish this.

I had given up hope that we would ever get a third book in this series, but suddenly there it was and I was beyond excited! And I really enjoyed this as well, it picked up the conflict we were left with at the end of Another Day and then really expanded the story and world.

My main critique is that I think the pacing was off (but I'm not sure how that might've been related to me reading the first 200 pages over 3 weeks and the last 200 pages today). For a long time, nothing was really happening at all, and then suddenly we were back into the plot - but overall it was okay and I did like the book. ( )
