The young adult fiction book “Almost Lost” by Beatrice Sparks, is the story of a fifteen-year-old teenager named Samuel Gordon, who was once a happy, energetic kid, but then turns into someone who is angry, depressed, and living in pain. Samuel's mother eventually realizes the changes in his attitude towards life and desperately searches for help. She Sends Samuel to a therapist named Dr. Beatrice Sparks. Sam goes to the therapist's office angry, unwilling, and depressed. After multiple therapy sessions, Samuel opens up to the therapist about how he survived on the streets, why he left home, and even the brutality he faced in his gang. I would probably choose another book next time because I did not feel as if I had a connection with the character in the story. I would recommend this book to people who are going through same rough times as Samuel and to people who have an interest in therapy or counseling. ( ) This book is a true story which is about the only thing that makes you want to keep reading. While the story itself is interesting, the writing style was slow and, at times, dull. I felt the book went to much into the therapy that was given when what I wanted to know more about was the boy's experiences, but it was still a good book teens and possibly adults if they are interested in this topic. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML: Who in his right mind wants to talk to a shrink? I don't want to talk about anything. I don't want to feel anything, taste anything ... or anything. The lyrics "just dying to die" run around in my brain day and night... Fifteen-year-old Sam is in pain. He comes to the therapist's office unwillingly, angry, depressed, and filled with guilt over his own self-destructive behavior. He is being drawn deeper and deeper into a black hole of despair from which he sees no way out. The Road Back This is the Real-life story of Sam's Recovery, told from tapes of his therapy sessions. It tells what drove him to leave home, how he survived on the street, and why he was desperate to escape from the brutality of the gang that had become his "family" and from the torment of his own self-loathing. For every teen who has experienced the pain and loneliness of a no-way-out darkness, and for all those who love them, here is the light that can lead the way back. .Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
