It brought many different past episodes of Next Generation and The Original Series together seamlessly to explain the history of artificial intelligence. The characters were spot on, except for one point where Spot was referred to as a 'he'! The balance of technology to character development was good. Although I think this book may have strayed a bit from the Star Trek universe, it must not have been too much or Pocket Books would never have allowed it to be published. A very interesting read concerning Data's development and want to be human considering the events which will occur in the movie Nemesis (this is set between First Contact and Nemesis). geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

A novel of love, loss and artificial intelligence as Data -- among the most popular, paradoxical and intriguing characters on Star Trek -- uncovers the truth behind the destruction of another android. When a new android created by Starfleet is apparently destroyed in a freak explosion, Lieutenant Commander Data and the crew of the Enterprise-E embark on a search for the truth and find themselves thrust into a crossfire between a secret group of ancient androids and the immortal android maker, Flint. Along the way, Data is forced to confront issues of grief, love and immortality as we explore the nature of artificial intelligence and what it means to be human in the Star Trek universe.
