"Inspired by the novels of Jane Austen, this new mystery series set in 19th-century London introduces the charming and resourceful Rosalind Thorne, a woman privy to the secrets of high society--including who among the ton is capable of murder... The daughter of a baronet and a minor heiress, Rosalind Thorne was nearly ruined after her father abandoned the family. To survive in the only world she knew, she began to manage the affairs of some of London society's most influential women, who have come to rely on her wit and discretion. So when aristocratic wastrel Jasper Aimesworth is found dead in Almack's, London's most exclusive ballroom, Rosalind must use her skills and connections to uncover the killer from a list of suspects that includes Almack's powerful patronesses--and her own former suitor Devon Winterbourne, now Lord Casselmaine. Torn between her old love and a growing attraction to a compelling Bow Street runner, Rosalind must not only unravel the mysteries surrounding Jasper's death, but the mysteries of her own heart as well.."--… (meer)

This was a pleasant listen - set in Regency London, it's a mystery related to the vaunted assembly rooms, Almack's. Rosalind Thorne is a penniless former member of the ton who now survives by being useful to society matrons - helping with events, correspondence, etc. There is a lot of detail about society mores and what was allowed and not. I found some of the detail to be a tad much, but overall, this was fine. I don't think I liked it enough to seek out more in the series, though.

When Rosalind Thorne's baronet father abandons his family, and Rosalind is nearly ruined by the scandal she is saved from disgrace by her god-mother Lady Blanchard.
A few years have passed and she has carved out a 'career' is managing the affairs of society’s most influential ladies.
When a body is found at Almack’s, Rosalind uses her contacts to try to solve the mystery.
Very enjoyable, hopefully there is more to come.
