Fiction. Romance. HTML:

Welcome to North Pole, Alaska, where the Christmas Spirit lives all year long.

Lots of kids write letters to Santa. But those delivered to North Pole are actually answered by a group of dedicated volunteers who call themselves "the Elves."

JD Baxter's letter to St. Nick asks for just one thing: His father didn't make it back from Afghanistan, and JD wants Daddy home again. Saints can do miracles, right? But since last year's letter went astray, JD decides to stow away to North Pole and ask for his miracle in person.

In North Pole, he encounters a postmistress who looks exactly like Mrs. Claus, a man named Rudolph with a red nose and a herd of reindeer, as well as enough toys, candy and Christmas cheer to make anyone feel good. He just can't find St. Nick.

Abby Baxter has spent the year since her husband's death trying to hold on. When she discovers her son is missing, her entire world tremblesâ?? until her husband's best friend appears at her door, offering a steadying hand.

Frank Machado couldn't save David Baxter's life in combat. Worse, for years he's been secretly in love with David's wife. Now that their son is missing, Frank is determined to see the child back in Abby's arms.

But during their unpredictable, impulsive trip into the wilds to search for JD, the problem becomes staying out of those arms himself.

Sparks fly, hearts warm, loveâ??and Christmasâ??are in the air. Should they Blame it on Mistle… (meer)

Let me just say, never judge a book by its cover. :) The cover is beautiful and it is sweet but has nothing to do with the story. And there is a story. Even though this was a novella it packed a lot in. There was the magical belief in Santa so strong that a little boy believes it enough to run away and find out why his Santa letters were not answered. Of course, this creates the drama of finding him, and with some help, true magic is created. This is worth the read. I really enjoyed it. ( )

I loved this cute Christmas story. When five year old DJ Baxter didn't get a reply to his letter to Santa for two years in a row, he decided to go see him and ask why he didn't answer the letters. So he sets off to North Pole, Alaska where he knows Santa lives. Once he gets there though finding Santa isn't as easy as he thought it would be. DJ needs to ask Santa in person to fill his Christmas wish and make his dad return home.

When his mother, Abby, finds him missing she phones the police immediately. They are searching but can't find the little boy. In the middle of this Frank Machado came to visit Abby and DJ. Frank was her husband's best friend and saved his life in Afghanistan but couldn't save him on his last mission. After hearing so much about Abby from his friend over the years, Frank had fallen in love with her. Sparks fly and the get very close. Their bond becomes even stronger when they take off for North Pole to find Abby's son.

This cute Christmas story takes us into the mind of a 5 year old which is so much fun but we also have the heartache of a mother whose son is missing. Add a romance to the story and you've got a perfect Christmas escape. Even though there were a bunch of things that just wouldn't/couldn't happen in real life, I overlooked them to enjoy the magic of the story.

The only negative about this book was that the story was only half of it. The rest was the first chapter of the other books in this series. They all sound good and I'd like to read them too but I didn't want this one to end. ( )
