This was another read for the library at the elementary school where I work. Resistance by Janet Graber follow the life of Marianne, a French teen, as she helps both the French Resistance and her deaf brother. The book is well written, seems to be fairly accurate as to hardships endured during this time period, and draws the reader in to the plight of a teen torn between what is right and what is safe. I know other reviewers didn't like the aspect of the mention of rape. However, rape against Jewish and French women during the war was extremely common. I wouldn't recommend this book for any grades below high school. However, for older teens, it can be a great insight into this period in history. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
