When former army medic David Evans goes to Desert Valley, Arizona, to look for his fallen comrade’s sister, rookie K-9 Officer Whitney Godwin, he encounters drug smugglers on his train. Whitney is one of the police officers who shows up at the train and now both she and David have the drug runners hot on their trail since they can identify them. Book 2 of the Rookie K-9 Unit series was a very enjoyable read. There was plenty of action and suspense, a sweet romance between likable characters David and Whitney, and Whitney’s wonderful K-9 partner Hunter. The crime that starts this book is resolved here as is the romance plotline. The main murder mystery that started in the first book remains ongoing. ( )

Truth and Consequences (Rookie K-9 Unit #2) by Lenora Worth

This is the first of a continuity/series. Each book CAN be read as a standalone BUT there is a current murder (plus several deaths in the past that were not initially considered murder but are now being looked into) and other incidents that are not solved until the end of the series. The romance and certain events pertaining to the main characters in each book will be resolved but not the main murder. Be prepared for this before starting this continuity/series. This is a Love Inspired book which is Christian romance/suspense book where God, faith and verses from the Bible are used, so if that bothers you don’t read it. I enjoy reading all of the Love Inspired books.

That being said, I really enjoyed this book. You continue to find out about each dog and the person he/she will be partnered with. The entire class has been ordered to stay until the murder is solved. In this book you will meet Whitney Godwin, another one of the graduates and her very young daughter, and David Evans, an army medic and friend of Whitney’s recently deceased brother. David comes to town to keep a promise made to Whitney’s brother and finds himself in the middle of a shoot out on the train thus meeting Whitney. This is a role reversal with her being the cop and with David being the protective type finds it a little hard to deal with. Both are strong and determined but find ways to deal with this so they can be together. I enjoyed the second book of this continuity/series and have already preordered the rest of the series.
